Big Day, Bright Future

Like many people across the country and throughout the world, the staff at Ruby Receptionists is celebrating on this historic day.  As I am writing this, it is early and still dark outside, but the excitement in our office is palpable as we prepare for the inauguration of our new president.  I’ll admit I’m having more than a little trouble focusing on my work, but I can’t think of a better occasion to let my mind wander from tasks at hand.

I’m sure I’m not alone in reflecting on the past and considering the future today.  I have been with Ruby for a little over four years, beginning as a remote receptionist in 2004.  What started as a part-time job and a way to pay the rent has since become a career.  Just as my role has changed, Ruby has changed in many ways over the years, and continues to do so, as growing businesses must.   Thankfully, one thing that has remained constant is the importance placed on the thoughts, hopes, and goals of our staff members.  New ideas and constructive criticism are not only appreciated at Ruby—they are integral to our success.  As Ruby and world at large changes, we aim to provide consistently excellent service, and foster personal and professional growth among our employees.  These are simple goals, but without the investment and feedback of everyone at Ruby, they would be impossible to accomplish.  Our hardworking staff and their brilliant ideas keep Ruby moving forward.   When something seems out-of-place, impractical, or clunky, our staff pipes up.   When someone has knowledge that might better the business, that knowledge is shared.  Perhaps most important voices are those of our receptionists—without them, Ruby wouldn’t exist.  Our receptionists are our editors, teachers, and sentinels.  They notice trends before they become problems, seek out ways to improve protocol, and constantly strive to impress our clients.  More than that, they are a team, and their camaraderie is unlike anything I’ve experienced at any other job.  Ruby’s foundation is strong because of our receptionists, and thanks to their efforts, it will remain strong many years to come.

I am full of optimism today.  The future is bright in so many ways.
