Ruby is pleased to announce that two members of our leadership team have earned recent Portland Business Journal honors. Ruby President & COO Stephanie Copeland Weber (or SCW, as we affectionately refer to her; pictured left) has been named one of the PBJ’s Executives of the Year for 2022. And Tia Bedoya, VP, Human Resources (pictured right), has received one of the publication’s 2022 HR Leadership Awards.

About the Executives of the Year Awards

The Executives of the Year Awards are given to a distinguished selection of executives that helped guide their organizations through a challenging year. Stephanie was specifically honored for her leadership in guiding Ruby through a transition to remote work. She also earned recognition for founding Ruby’s Equity Steering Committee and creating our philanthropy program, Ruby Corps.

“Since joining us five years ago, SCW has been instrumental in helping us scale our business while maintaining the culture and career growth opportunities that make Ruby such a special place to work,” said Ruby CEO Kate Winkler. “For all of her work leading the growth and success of Ruby, this award is so well deserved.”

The PBJ spoke to SCW about her top piece of business advice, her favorite Portland-based business, her role models, and more. Check out the interview here.

About the HR Leadership Awards

The PBJ’s HR Leadership Awards recognize outstanding performance in the field of human resources, with recipients honored for innovation and excellence in HR management. Tia’s award follows on the heels of numerous major initiatives she’s led at Ruby in critical areas including employee compensation, new hire retention, diversity and inclusion, benefits improvements, and new HR technology implementation.

“In the past six years at Ruby, Tia has fostered and developed our HR and Talent teams with an employee-first approach that equally supports the business,” said Kate. “No topic, situation, or person is too small or insignificant in her eyes, and she has a magical way of earning respect and gaining trust almost instantly. Tia’s authenticity, candidness, and genuine kindness truly set her apart.”

The PBJ spoke to Tia about her background and work with Ruby for an in-depth profile. Read the article here.

Tia will accept the award on July 28th, 2022, at the PBJ’s HR Summit & Healthiest Employers of Oregon event, where winners will also speak on a panel exploring how employers can adapt to the ongoing labor shortage. Learn more and get tickets here.
