Where have the workers gone? Companies pivot to attract employees

Reading time:

Phoenix and the rest of the nation are battling a labor shortage at this stage of the Covid-19 pandemic. In this feature story, the Phoenix Journal explores why some workers left — or were forced to leave — the workforce, and what some Valley companies are doing to attract workers back, such as offering higher wages, management training and free education.

Ruby expanded into Arizona in the summer of 2021, hiring the companies first fully remote workforce with no plans to open an office in the state. The expansion has provided us a unique perspective on what employees are looking for from remote companies, and how businesses can stay competitive during this labor shortage.

Check out this article from the Phoenix Business Journal which includes a short interview with Ruby CEO, Kate Winkler.
